Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

RIIBLA402E - Monitor and control the effects of blasting on the environment

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Develop strategies to control effects of blasting on the environment

  1. Access, interpret and apply blasting documentation and confirm work activity is compliant
  2. Identify and evaluate environmental hazards and controls, resulting from blasting, according to site requirements
  3. Identify and analyse objectives and criteria for safe and effective blast monitoring
  4. Evaluate and select monitoring device options according to site requirements
  5. Prepare procedures for installing, establishing and operating monitoring systems
  6. Formulate monitoring system maintenance program and procedures according to site requirements
  7. Determine procedures for auditing, reviewing and updating of monitoring system according to site requirements
  8. Select and wear personal protective equipment according to site requirements
  9. Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and confirm steps required to respond to emergencies
